Five Excuses for Avoiding Exercise

Exercise can be a very scary and unfamiliar activity for many
people. When it comes down to it, regardless of your goals, everyone knows
they need to exercise whether for health, weight loss/gain, or just feeling
better. The problem is that many people, when faced with starting this new
task, find ways to avoid getting the program going! The good news is that each
excuse really doesn't have to be the reason you
don't start your commitment to your health.
#5 EXERCISE ISN'T ANY FUN-If you've never been
athletic you may not realize that there are activities that interest you. By
trying new and different forms of exercise, you can discover things that are
fun and still get a good workout. RDV Sportsplex has racquetball and squash,
swimming and aqua aerobics, ice skating, group cycling, belly dance classes
and yoga to name just a few. The options are endless - - you just have to
start moving!
#4 I WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT FIRST- Exercise goes hand in hand with a healthy diet
to compliment your weight loss efforts. Exercise can stimulate your metabolism
(which means you burn more calories), decrease body fat, increase muscle and
help to reduce inches in addition to helping your skin maintain elasticity
while you are losing those inches.
#3 I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO OR HOW TO GET STARTED-Walking is the easiest and
first thing you can do to start your program.
However, by enlisting the help of a fitness trainer many of your fears or
questions can easily be addressed. At RDV
Sportsplex Athletic Club, we offer three (3) free training sessions to all of
our new members to organize your exercise program specific to your goals. As
you become more comfortable working out, you will learn new and different ways
to challenge yourself.
#2 I AM TOO TIRED-Exercise gives you energy!!
Establish a schedule to exercise and once you get yourself started you will
feel the difference in your energy levels and you will sleep more restfully.
#1 I DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH TIME-Starting a workout program can require as little
as two to ten minute walks per day. Often if we evaluate how much
time we spend watching TV or sitting on a computer
we will find that 20-30 minutes can be spared for a workout. For most people
your life revolves around giving all of your time and energy to others whether
it is your children, your work, your friends or family. Exercise is the one
thing that you can do to take care of yourself. It isn't
just about losing weight or looking better as much as it is about looking
after your health and well-being. With a little bit of effort and planning you
can start working out and feeling better in no time at all!

is Technogym@ and how
can it help my workout?? |

Sportsplex Athletic Club has a unique and exciting line of equipment made by
Technogym. With the use of computerized machines and personalized disks called
"keys" you can have your workouts conveniently organized, saved and updated with
the touch of finger! Hopefully you will gain an understanding of what it is and
how it can help
your
workouts using some of
the various features.
The first thing you need to do to truly utilize this system is to get a "key".
The key looks like an oversized version of your car key but it actually works
like a computer disk. This key can hold multiple programs for workouts, guides
your through your workout and stores that information. When you first join the
Athletic Club, you are entitled to three complimentary "NEWFIT" sessions with a
personal trainer; the trainer will personalize a workout program that fits your
needs on a key. Within your NEWFIT sessions the basics are covered on how to use
the Technogym system so you are confident about using your key in the machines
and able to record and save your workout data.
So why is all of this helpful? First of all it saves you TIME! No more fussing
with equipment settings- it's already programmed for you! Guesswork is also
eliminated. The Technogym system tells you which machine or exercise to do and
it will even remind you which exercise comes next once you've finished an
exercise. Your trainer can also program cardiovascular exercises to keep your
heart healthy and strong. Automatic upgrades can be set so that every few
sessions the exercises are more challenging. Even free weight exercises can be
programmed on your key workouts! No more carrying around workout cards, pencils
and clipboards! You can even record if you take group exercise classes!
Basically, any exercise you do can be tracked and recorded in your personal
file.
By recording your effort, you'll be able to track your improvement and check
your own consistency. You can even print out reports that summarize all of this
data. There is even a feature that provides you with an exercise and stretching
library. There are literally hundreds of exercises and stretches! All are
organized according to the specific part of the body that you want to work and
you can even view a short video that shows you how to execute the movement!
The Technogym system is extremely user friendly- even if you don't like
computers! By the time you finish those three visits with the trainer, you will
have all the knowledge you need to keep your workouts time efficient,
challenging, and fun! There are many reasons and excuses that all of us can make
to avoid working out but with the Technogym key you can eliminate the guesswork.
All of these things keep you focused towards your goals so that ultimately you
see results. The only thing you need to do now is get yourself to the gym!
